Railway Gate

Magnetic Installs Pedestrian Railway Gates In America

In the Village of Waterloo, Nebraska, an exercise trail crosses over two sets of railroad tracks. Over the past ten years three local residents have been killed while crossing these tracks. City management of Waterloo contacted JEO Consulting of Waterloo seeking a solution to prevent further accidents.

Magnetic Automation Corp. was pleased to have the opportunity to provide a safe solution by offering the Magnetic Autocontrol′s MRG Pedestrian Railway Gate.

Magnetic Autocontrol′s Railway Pedestrian barrier, offers a block-able and short-circuit-proof torque motor, which is used in almost every Magnetic Autocontrol product. The gates, linkages, drive housing and posts are of robust construction to resist intentional damage by vandals. The Magnetic Torque drive has a protective indexing clutch and shock absorbing springs, built in to prevent internal damage in case the gate is forced against its motion during operation.

A Sonalert located in the drive mechanism produces a warning sound followed by the gate closing, thereby preventing pedestrian access across the tracks. While the gate is closed there is an emergency exit for anyone caught on the tracks. After the train has passed, the gate opens and once again allows access across the tracks. The MRG Railway Gate offers safety, reliability, and virtually maintenance free operation.

The MRG Gates where installed in July of 2001.

Magnetic Autocontrol′s wide range of products makes it possible to offer the market the right solution for every problem in the field of traffic and pedestrian control.
